On July 16, a new three-digit national mental health hotline went live. If you need help but can’t remember your local crisis number, you can simply dial or text 988 to be connected to the 988 Lifeline, formerly known as the National Suicide Prevention Hotline. You can even connect online using the chat feature at 988Lifeline.org.

LifeWorks NW clients can also receive immediate help through our after-hours crisis line at 971-244-4635, Calling this number will give crisis responders access your patient records and allow them to communicate with your current care team.

However, there is no “wrong” hotline to call during a mental health crisis. We’re excited about the new 988 Lifeline because it’s easy to remember, accessible across the US and available at all times of day. The former national suicide prevention number is also still valid.

If you’re interested in learning more about the 988 Lifeline, you can do so here. We encourage everyone to share the news with their community about this important new resource – the more people are aware of the 988 Lifeline, the easier it will be for community members in crisis to receive the support they need.
