‘Treatment works!’: January is Substance Use Disorder Treatment Month

January is Substance Use Disorder Treatment Month, a time dedicated every year to raising awareness about treatment options, pathways to recovery, and supporting others in need.

January is Substance Use Disorder Treatment Month, a time dedicated every year to raising awareness about treatment options, pathways to recovery, and supporting others in need.

According to a national survey by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), 48.4 million people 12 or older (or 16.8%) had a substance use disorder in the past year. Oregon faces significant challenges with substance use disorders. In fact, it ranks among the highest states for drug use across multiple categories.

With this in mind, the Opioid Settlement Prevention, Treatment and Recovery Board allocated $13 million to improve care in Oregon for people struggling with addiction. This is an important action in strengthening  the state’s infrastructure to support these much-needed services.

Treatment helps individuals overcome addiction and regain control of their lives. However, taking the first step is often the hardest part, and there is no “one-size-fits-all" solution. That's why this year's Substance Use Disorder Treatment Month theme is “Treatment Works! Find the Path that Works for You.” Because treatment is personal. At LifeWorks NW, we strive to meet clients where they are and work together in finding the best treatment option for their unique pathway to recovery.

Join us as we recognize national Substance Use Disorder Treatment Month and help share resources that connect people to treatment. Community support is key in reducing the stigma surrounding addiction and encouraging those on their recovery journey.
